A few years ago my fiance Barbara and I were looking for a venue for our wedding.  The idea of a wedding in the Caribbean appealed to us, so we did what you are doing now, and searched “Weddings Caribbean” on the internet.  We realized right away, that there are a lot of things to take into consideration.  Things like which island, what resort, do we want children to be in attendance? What is the ideal price to have as many friends and family able to join us?

Choosing the Caribbean was the ideal location, since Barb and I live in different parts of the country.  The idea of bringing both of our families and friends together for a wedding/vacation sounded perfect.  After doing an extensive search, we chose Jamaica.  With our love of Bob Marley’s reggae beats, swaying palm trees, azure seas and warm tropical breezes, Jamaica was the perfect choice.  They host more destination weddings than any other Caribbean island, and with it’s close proximity to the United States, and daily non-stop flights on many of the major airlines, it would make coordinating everything easy.

Once Jamaica was chosen as our destination, we then had to decide on a resort.  Barb and I decided to  make the experience as relaxing and stress free as possible for everyone, so we looked at the all inclusive resorts.  We had also made the decision to include children, so it narrowed our search since some all inclusive resorts cater to couples and adults only.  The best fit for us was Trelawny Beach Resort.  It had everything we were looking for, and it was affordable for our guests.

The next major decision was where to have the ceremony.  Working with a coordinator, we were given several options to choose from, including having our ceremony on the beach (at sunset or sunrise), in the mountains, by a waterfall, in a traditional church setting, beneath a canopy of coconut palms, and under a Victorian gazebo. After a lot of thought, we decided to have our vows said near a beautiful waterfall called Laughing Waters.  We rented the private villa that sits above the falls so the wedding party would have a place to prepare.  I’ll never forget how beautiful Barb looked walking down the steps to the beach in her stunning white dress and bare feet.  I looked pretty dapper too in my white tux jacket with shorts.

After the sunset ceremony, Couples Resort catered an amazing dinner of local fare right on the beach, just steps away.  It was a delicious spread of jerk chicken and pork, fried bananas, calla loo, breadfruit, local vegetables and a sampling of tasty deserts.  A terrific band played reggae music for us, and we danced barefoot in the cool sand to their enchanting sounds for hours.  It was a special day that we’ll never forget, and it was so nice to be able to share it with our family and close friends.

Well, that’s how we did it.  Whatever your dream destination wedding is, the coordinators in Jamaica can make your every dream come true.  One Love!
